Thread Holder

With my new found love of sewing and crafting, I have accumulated a lot of spools of thread. I was just keeping them in a drawer but kept miss placing them and keeping them from not getting tangled. So I had some extra wood and dowels laying around from a previous project and decided to make a hanging thread holder.

Materials:
Wood ( I used a left over piece of craft wood that I got a Ben Franklins)
Dowels
Drill
Stain
Velcro
Ribbon
Wood glue

Total time: 30 minutes

This project is fairly self explanatory... I drilled holes into the board the exact size of the dowels. Using a slightly larger drill bit I drilled two holes, one in each corner to thread the ribbon through. Using a jigsaw I cut the dowels to desired length.

I stained the wood board and dowels with regular wood stain. After allowing to dry I placed a few drops of wood glue on the dowel and then placed them in the pre-drilled holes, wiping away any excess. After allowing the glue to dry overnight I placed the ribbon through the holes in the corners knotting the ends.

Completing the project I placed a few pieces of velcro on the back of the board and on the wall to ensure it would stay flat with the weight of the spools.
